Founders Greg & Joanne Starkman have shared a life time together as beauty & wellness professionals creatively and as industry executives, Innersense is the result of their vision for a line of pure organic products that contain the highest quality of certified organic and biodynamic ingredients; free of harsh irritating chemicals including sulfates, artificial colors and fragrances. It is through their passion and desire to give back to the beauty and wellness industry that Innersense was born.

The Founders

GREGORY STARKMAN

Growing up and watching his mother and uncle, who were beauty professionals, Greg was destined for the business from a young age. In fact, he got an early start as teenager filling beauty products for his mother’s cosmetic line, which she sold at her salon in Beverly Hills. Following in his mother’s footsteps, after high school, Greg got his cosmetology license and worked in several Beverly Hill’s salons.

Wanting to explore the business side more, he moved on to a sales position with a haircare distributor in southern California. He discovered that he loved this side of the business and quickly advanced up the corporate ladder, working in senior executive positions for several top professional haircare companies. During his career, he developed and launched a number of successful brands coupled with leading Sales, Marketing and Education.

With more than 20 years of senior management experience in the professional beauty industry, Greg decided that the corporate world lacked passion and dreamed of starting his own company. Never straying from his passion for the professional beauty industry and his love of selling, Innersense was born.

Greg, is responsible for leading all phases of the company including product development , branding directing sales and operations, building distribution and overseeing the company’s internal organizational structuring.

Greg is married to Innersense Co-Founder Joanne Starkman. They currently live in Clayton, California with their two children.

JOANNE STARKMAN

As the daughter of teachers, Joanne was encouraged to pursue education…But while at college she spent more time cutting and styling everyone’s hair than studying. She therefore decided to follow her passion, dropped out of college and enrolled in beauty school. There she discovered that her true love was doing other people’s hair.

While at salons, she realized that stylists needed more advanced training and began teaching advanced cutting techniques. She loved teaching so much that she made it her full-time job and began teaching all around North America for a hair care manufacturer (maybe she had her parents genes after all). Joanne’s career journey married her love of hairdressing with her passion for teaching.

Today Joanne is actively involved in product development, company culture and its educational programs.

Joanne is married to Innersense Founder Greg Starkman. Together they made their dream of Innersense a reality. They currently live in Clayton, California with their two children.

The INNERSENSE Name

The name Innersense came from a wise psychologist who was counseling Greg and Joanne. As parents of a special needs child, they were worried that they wouldn’t always know what to do. So she told them, “trust your inner sense.” And they did.
